En la historiografía del Caribe, el concepto del “gran miedo” alude al temor a una sublevación de los afrodescendientes después de la Revolución Haitiana. En este artículo se reflexiona, a partir de un caso concreto en la provincia de Yucatán, sobre la vigencia y el uso de ese discurso del miedo en el contexto de las independencias latinoamericanas.
